Hapī was founded by homeopath Gretta Carney and herbalist Fleur du Fresne in December 2015 with the intention of putting their health practices to work within the context of kai. Both Gretta and Fleur had extensive experience working with food in cafe and catering environments. The business operated from Napier's historic takeaway bar at 89 Hastings Street until the lockdowns of 2020 when we moved into the bigger site adjoining the Chantal Shop. During this time Hapī has grown from a staff of 4 to employ up to 16 people and everything we have achieved has been through the hard work of our team and the support of our whānau and wider community.
